Silver STARS

Thursdays 6:00-6:45pm

Award Level 2 of our STAR Citizen Training Scheme.

The course is aimed at all dogs, there is no age limit.

Dogs must have completed Bronze STARS to join.

Silver STARS provides Guardians with a good knowledge of understanding and training their canine companion.

Dogs who successfully complete the course are encouraged to continue their learning in the Gold STARS course and/or Rally STARS.

More About This Course

The course aims to build on the skills learned in Bronze STARS while increasing the level of difficulty. It is a natural progression of practical dog training skills and introduces new concepts such as greeting a friend, vehicle control and a road walking exercise which are vital in everyday life situations.

The 6 week course will cover:

• Come away from distractions
• Controlled greetings
• Food manners
• Rejoin handler
• Play with the dog
• Road Walk
• Vehicle control
• Stay in one place for 2 minutes
• Examination of the dog
• Responsibility and care (covering children, barking, dogs and stationary vehicles and vehicle travel)

Guardians must show that they have means of cleaning up after their dog and that they have proper identification. It is a legal requirement to inscribe the name and the address of the owner on the collar or on a plate or disc attached to it. Dogs are also required to have a microchip which is registered on a Defra-approved database, in the UK.
