Award Level 1 of our STAR Citizen Training Scheme.

The course is aimed at all dogs, there is no age limit.

If your dog is new to training, never been training before or would need a refresher course, it may be recommended to complete the Rising STARS course first.

Bronze STARS provides Guardians with a basic knowledge of understanding and training their canine companion. It is a basic standard that all dogs can achieve with correct handling.

Dogs who successfully complete the course are encouraged to continue their learning in the Silver STARS course.

More About This Course

Bronze STARS aims to produce a dog that will walk and behave in a controlled manner on the lead, will stay in one position on command, will allow their owner to clean, groom and inspect them, are able to stand, sit or lie down, all on the lead and come to their Guardian when called.

This 6 week course will cover:

• Walk on a lead
• Return to handler
• Control at a door or gate
• Controlled walking amongst people and dogs
• Grooming
• Examination of the dog
• Stay on a lead for 1 minute
• Collar, lead and equipment
• Cleanliness and Identification
• Responsibility and care (covering a dogs needs, illness and responsibilities of ownership)

Guardians must show that they have means of cleaning up after their dog and that they have proper identification. It is a legal requirement to inscribe the name and the address of the owner on the collar or on a plate or disc attached to it. Dogs are also required to have a microchip which is registered on a Defra-approved database, in the UK.
