More About This Course

The Gold Award builds upon the skills learnt in Silver Award and develops more advanced training skills of the dog and handler. The course introduces new concepts such as sending a dog to bed, relaxed isolation, an emergency stop and heelwork off the lead, all of which provide greater understanding and control.

The training will cover:

  • Walk free beside Guardian
  • Stop the dog
  • Return to Guardian's side
  • Relaxed settle
  • Send the dog to bed
  • Stay down in one place
  • Food manners
  • Road walk
  • Examination of the dog
  • Responsibility and care (covering health, worming, country code, laws, frightening, out of control and barking, the psychology of learning)
