We have Kennel Club Listed Status to teach the Good Citizen Dog Scheme, are fully insured and registered in England No. 15853735.

My name is Gina. When I moved back to East Yorkshire in 2022, after 15 years living in the North West, I was surprised to find there were no training clubs that offered structured training programmes or KC rally training nearby. I was travelling a 3 hour round trip every Sunday to Kennel Club Good Citizen classes and travelling back to the North West for rally.

I wanted to bring rally to East Yorkshire and also wanted to use my scientific background to promote science-based dog training. So, I began training with the Professional Association of Canine Trainers (PACT) and in 2024, K9 STARS was born!

I have been training dogs for over 30 years, I compete in rally obedience and am a Kennel Club rally judge. I know that the most effective training methods are welfare-friendly and backed by science. I am passionate about animal welfare and my aim is to improve the quality of life for dogs and their Guardians. I use my 20 years experience in scientific research to interpret the latest Behaviour Science and Psychology studies to train dogs effectively, empathically and ensure their welfare is top priority.

How I can help you with your dog

I have shared my home with dogs my whole life, many of whom have been rescue dogs, each with their own unique backgrounds and challenges. I have experienced the high and lows and know what it feels like to only want the best for your dog and for your dog to be happy. The most important thing that I have learnt is that the key to successful training and a happy dog is your relationship with them. If your bond is strong, the rest comes easy.

I am here to help you build your relationship with your dog, help you understand what they are trying to tell you and how you can communicate with them. Training develops the bond and relationship between you and your dog. By spending time training with your dog, you will learn to communicate with each other better, to solve problems and overcome challenges you face in everyday life. See what we can offer for you and your dog.

Our Facilities

Our group classes take place at Rickaby Hall, Ulrome, Driffield in East Yorkshire. The hall has both indoor and outdoor facilities. Depending on the weather, we can train inside the hall (which has central heating) or in the grounds outside. For puppies who have not yet had their 2nd vaccination, we will stay inside.

The village hall has toilet facilities and is accessible with ramps. We also provide chairs when working either inside or outside. We strive to make K9 STARS inclusive for all dog guardians. During the booking process you will have the option to make us aware of any conditions, impairments or access needs that will enable us to ensure you have the best experience possible during the sessions.
